Cameras installed by the United States Geological Survey captured the moment a small whirlwind formed around Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano on Monday.
Following Kilauea’s recent eruption, the USGS said the spectacle may have been caused by heat from lava warming surface air, which rises into cooler air above, drawing in surrounding air and creating convergence.
