Tata Sons is facing renewed stock-market listing pressure after the RBI rejected its application to surrender its Core Investment Company registration. The decision keeps Tata Sons under the Upper Layer NBFC framework, which carries a listing requirement.

Meanwhile, HDFC Bank has submitted two candidates to RBI for its next MD and CEO, as Sashidhar Jagdishan approaches the end of his second term in October 2026. The candidates' names have not been publicly disclosed.

Jindal Steel and CSIR-CRRI have also achieved a Guinness World Record with a 1.85-km road in Raigarh made using approximately 200,000 tonnes of processed steel slag.

At the BRICS Summit, PM Narendra Modi warned against the weaponisation of technology and critical minerals, while BRICS announced cooperation on an integrated early-warning system for infectious diseases.

Separately, newly declassified CIA documents from 1998 mention India among potential countries targeted by Osama bin Laden's network, although no specific Indian target or confirmed attack plan was identified in the document.
