"The way it was portrayed to the media was like there was some really high stakes event where we thought that the space station was about to depressurize, and that wasn't the case... The crew that was sheltering in place didn't really feel like our lives were in danger... We weren't even in the vehicle for very long at all." NASA astronaut Jessica Meir, commander of SpaceX Crew-12, at the mission's postflight news conference (October 15, 2026), on the June air leak in the Russian segment that sent astronauts into their Dragon capsule. She also describes the best moments of the 7.5-month mission: "just laughing... your whole body is kind of hunched over because you're laughing so hard."
