A new controversy has emerged following a House hearing on immigration enforcement after Jessica Gorman, the mother of slain college student Sheridan Gorman, alleged that a Democratic lawmaker fell asleep during emotional testimony from victims' families. Speaking after the hearing, Gorman said she witnessed the lawmaker "napping" during opening remarks and while another grieving father shared his story. Her comments, later highlighted in an interview with Fox News, quickly spread across social media and sparked criticism from conservatives. The hearing focused on sanctuary policies, border security and the experiences of families affected by crimes involving undocumented immigrants. The lawmaker referenced by Gorman has not publicly responded to the allegation.
