Tensions in the Middle East have escalated once again after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a stern warning to the United States over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. In a televised interview, Ghalibaf declared that Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz is "non-negotiable" and warned Washington against "overstepping" the recently signed memorandum of understanding. He stressed that Tehran is prepared to fight if necessary, while adding that diplomacy remains an option if it helps advance the agreement. Ghalibaf also announced that Iran has finalized legal and service arrangements with Oman and said implementation will begin within the next 30 days, with services continuing over the next 60 days.
