Tensions are rising in Iraq after a drone breached the heavily fortified Green Zone in Baghdad before being shot down by Iraqi security forces. According to Iraqi officials, security forces detected a small drone flying over the restricted airspace above the Green Zone, home to key government institutions and several foreign diplomatic missions, including the U.S. Embassy. Lieutenant General Saad Maan said the drone was intercepted after repeated attempts, with no casualties or material damage reported. Media reports suggested the drone may have been heading toward the U.S. Embassy, although Iraqi authorities have not officially confirmed that claim. The origin of the drone also remains unknown.
