The controversy surrounding the national song 'Vande Mataram' has intensified. The Congress has adopted the stance of singing only the first two stanzas, while the BJP has strongly opposed this and passed a specific resolution. The BJP intends to turn this into a nationwide issue. In a meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of BJP National President Nitin Navin, the party made it clear that no compromise regarding the dignity and complete form of the national song—for the sake of political appeasement or vote-bank politics—would be tolerated.
