Donald Trump says "artificial intelligence" sounds fake, so he has ordered every US federal agency to call it "Super Intelligence" instead. The executive order, signed on September 29, 2026, tells agencies to use "SI" in reports, websites and policy documents, and to stop acknowledging the term "AI."

But is Trump right to rename AI? Researchers say superintelligence already means a system that beats humans across the board, and that today's models are not there yet. Critics call the rebrand a gift to big tech marketing while real concerns go unanswered. Those include loss of human control, weak oversight and insider warnings.
