Four NASA and SpaceX Crew-12 astronauts landed safely on Earth Thursday from the International Space Station after hurrying there eight months ago to replace an ailing colleague and his crew.

SpaceX brought the U.S., French and Russian flyers and the Dragon spacecraft back with a splashdown in the Pacific off the coast of Los Angeles. The returning crew includes NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.

“The crew’s doing well; they were all smiles exiting the capsule,” Bill Spetch, the deputy manager of Commercial for NASA’s low-orbit program, said on a conference call after the landing. “It’s great to have them back after 237 days in space, 235 of those on the space station.”
