Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to help find a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict, saying Modi consistently raises the issue during their meetings and has “very good ideas” for finding a mutually acceptable solution. Putin also described Modi’s position as neutral while emphasising his interest in bringing the conflict to an end.

Reacting to Putin’s remarks, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the Russian President’s appreciation of Modi’s efforts towards global peace was a matter of pride for Indians. Shah said that India has emerged as a “trusted voice for global peace” under PM Modi’s leadership.
