At DevDay on September 29, 2026, OpenAI introduced "Dots," always-on AI agents. Each Dot runs on GPT-6 Astra with its own cloud computer and web browser, plugs into more than 4,000 apps, learns your preferences, and can be reached in ChatGPT, by voice call, or in Slack and Teams. The first Dot is included with eligible higher-tier plans at launch. Users set built-in rules for when a Dot can act alone, and sensitive actions like changing a password stay with the human. Sam Altman described the model: "You can delegate ambitious pieces of work the way you would to a high agency engineer or a chief of staff that you work with."
