NASA just added **$600 M** of science to its Moon‑Base roadmap!
Three commercial partners (Astrobotic, Intuitive Machines, Firefly) will each launch a lander in late 2028, delivering **four missions** that carry the same three breakthrough payloads:

✅ SCALPSS – 4‑camera stereo system to map plume‑dust erosion.
✅ LRA – Laser Retro‑Reflector Array for ultra‑precise navigation.
✅ LETS – Radiation spectrometer to protect future crews.

And NASA unveiled the **PROMISE rover** – a hybrid Mars‑rover designed to dig for water and resources at the lunar South Pole.

All of this builds a **network of “weather stations”** on the Moon, a critical step toward a permanent outpost by **2029‑30**.
