Russian troops were seen carrying around a new missile system in Rostov, near the Ukrainian border. The Russian troops said the new weapon was called Iva. Military analysts say the shoulder-fired anti-aircraft weapon does not like other Russian MANPADs and looks more like the Iranian Misagh or the Chinese QW MANPADs. The main difference between the Iva and other Russian MANPADs like Igla and Verba is that the Iva has a very different grip, a single-flip safety switch and no Russian serial number markings. Meanwhile, the missile has raised speculations of Iran and Russia deepening their defence ties. Russian President Vladimir Putin first turned to Iran for Shahed drones after the Ukraine war was launched. Since then, Russia has offered Iran supersonic cruise missile technology and Geran drones. Hem Kaur Saroya explains on Vantage on Firstpost.
