Our main stories tonight:
- EU VOWS MORE PRESSURE ON RUSSIA FOLLOWING SLEW OF ACTS OF SABOTAGE
“We will increase pressure on Russia,” says European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen, while Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warns that the coming weeks will be critical to all countries from central Europe to the Baltics. This is in response to a wave of bombings, arson attacks, and other acts of sabotage linked to the Kremlin.
- EU TO CRACK DOWN ON VISAS FOR RUSSIANS
After Germany decided to close the Russian consulate in the city of Bonn and the EU summoned Moscow’s representative over the Leipzig attack, European foreign ministers have just wrapped up their talks in Wicklow, Ireland, on a possible response to the series of Kremlin-linked hybrid operations. This may include a ban on entry into the Schengen area for Russian ex-combatants and tougher restrictions on visas for tourists.
- MADRID SAYS RUSSIA & ISRAEL RESPONSIBLE FOR MIGRANTS STORMING CEUTA
Spanish police believe that Moroccan special services orchestrated the July storming of the EU border in the Spanish exclave of Ceuta. This comes against the claims of the government in Madrid, which is convinced that Russia, along with Israel, are responsible for the crisis.
