Russia’s UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia rejected allegations that Moscow was behind the drone strike on a Romanian apartment block, demanding a “depoliticised” probe and questioning Western claims. Moscow argued the evidence did not match a Russian Geran-2 strike and pointed to Romanian statements suggesting Ukrainian air defences may have altered the drone’s trajectory. Russia also invoked past cases of mistaken attribution, warned over nuclear risks at Zaporizhzhia, and confronted Ukraine at the UN over deadly strikes in Starobilsk, as tensions over the Romania drone incident intensified.
