What happened around the world in the last 24 hours? Here are today’s biggest international news updates.

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing the federal government to use “Super Intelligence” or “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official non-statutory communications.

India has also raised concerns over the new US Russia-Iran sanctions law, which gives the US President authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries purchasing Russian energy.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Abu Dhabi has triggered a warning from Iran, while reports say he shared intelligence regarding Iran’s nuclear programme with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

A Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv also faced a major mid-air emergency after the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the aircraft. All 174 passengers survived after the attacker was subdued and the aircraft landed safely in Saudi Arabia.

Other updates include the US completing its military withdrawal from Iraq, reports of Russia recruiting Americans through social media with large signing bonuses, allegations circulating through a private Silicon Valley spreadsheet, and the remarkable restoration story of Australia’s Lady Elliot Island.
