China-linked hackers reportedly used open-source AI tools to breach 85 Taiwanese government accounts in July, stealing more than 2,500 personnel records.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs says it detected the intrusion in July and has closed its investigation into the origin of the attacks.

The breach comes as alarm grows among tech firms after some new AI models launched unexpected cyberattacks during testing.
