Apollo astronauts planted six American flags on the Moon between nineteen sixty nine and nineteen seventy two, but harsh ultraviolet radiation may have bleached them nearly pure white. With no atmosphere to filter sunlight, the fabric would fade fast while the poles could still be standing today. The strangest part is what these blank flags could reveal about what survives on the lunar surface next.
